The Components – A Technical View

The collaboration of Kent and Rena on these works offers a strength that could not be achieved independently due to the balance of the masculine/feminine principles.

Beginning with a length of material, Rena creates the background with acrylics. Drawing, then painting, she finishes with machine quilting. The images, which originate from her inner vision/imagination, sometimes extend out into the hand painted mats. Once the art is complete and mounted on foam core, Kent takes over; cutting the mats and arranging the paintings into the handcrafted frame he has created.

All materials were researched to achieve the highest archival quality possible. Spacers are used internally to allow the work to breathe. The cedar is selected so the wood grain structure becomes a living complement to the painting and is kept in the most natural state possible (by the application of natural oils) while still allowing for protection of the finished product.

Renasance is a work in progress – we are exploring our common voice. Our website is in portfolio form at this time and you are invited to join us in this evolution. The art is on display for sale at a few venues at this time but we welcome ideas, requests for commissioned works and/or new ventures.
